This section deals with tissue handling, viz, the enamel and dentine. Cavity preparation is always measured in terms of how much tissue we remove. But, on the contrary today’s dentistry focusses on how effectively we preserve what is existing. The cavity designing for each individual situation will be discussed with case presentation. This section will be more towards thought provocation and make an individual design the cavity for each situation.

The various cement options available to us with step-by-step case demonstration will be elaborated as well. The cementation step is a vital step in the restorative work flow and the flawless execution of the cementation will be made easy.


Overview

Restoring posterior teeth is always considered complex because of the difficulties that revolve around that. Restoring the posterior tooth to the original form is of utmost importance and as restoring dentists we are supposed to execute this job perfectly. Achieving functional stability is the primary goal of any restorative work we perform. Today almost all the restorative work we do revolves around Bonded Restorations. Bonded restorations may be direct or indirect depending on the clinical situation. It’s the diagnostic skill of the operator that decides on the selection of the right material and technique in restoring the tooth back to its original form and function. This course will take the audience through the various complicated clinical situation and the best way to restore them. The importance of material selection in the current era and the cavity preparation guidelines and the bonding protocols will be dealt with to make the participant understand the essentials of each step in involved the restoration. At the end of the course, the participant will be confident enough to handle any complex posterior restorations and make apt decisions.
